About the Role

The Dietitian / Menu Planner position at Amentum is crucial for ensuring that high-quality, nutritionally balanced meals are provided to personnel in a unique U.S. Navy program based on Diego Garcia. This role is designed to enhance healthy eating standards while catering to a diverse clientele. In the initial months, the successful candidate will focus on developing a 21-day cycle menu, collaborating with food service staff, and gaining an understanding of the specific dietary needs of Navy personnel. Key Responsibilities

  • The Dietitian / Menu Planner will be responsible for creating and implementing a 21-day cycle menu that utilizes the Food Service Management (FSM) system to meet diverse dietary needs.
  • They will ensure all menu offerings comply with Department of Defense (DoD) food service directives and adhere to the nutritional standards set forth by the U.S. Navy.
  • The role involves promoting healthy food choices by designing menus that offer balanced meal options and appeal to a varied customer base.
  • Regular monitoring and reviewing of menu items will be necessary to ensure a mix of variety and nutritional value while aligning with customer preferences.
  • Preparation and certification of menus in collaboration with U.S. Navy representatives will be required to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations.
  • Analyzing the nutritional content of menu items and incorporating dietary best practices will help promote wellness among service members.
  • The Dietitian will guide food service staff on meal preparation techniques, portion control, and achieving nutritional goals to enhance overall meal quality.
  • Documenting all aspects of menu planning and maintaining compliance records will be essential for audit purposes and quality assurance.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in dietetics, nutrition, food service management, or a closely related field is required for this position.
  • Candidates should possess 2-4 years of experience in menu planning or dietetics, particularly within military, commercial, or institutional food service environments.
  • Proficiency in menu planning software, particularly the Food Service Management (FSM) system or equivalent, is expected.
  • A strong understanding of nutritional standards and regulations applicable to military food service is essential.
  • Excellent organizational skills are a must, as the role involves managing complex menu planning and documentation processes efficiently.
  • The individual must be able to pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance throughout the duration of their deployment.
  • The ability to obtain necessary facility credentials and possess a valid passport for at least one year at the time of hiring is also required.
