About the Role
This remote math tutoring position with IvyMath is an exciting opportunity to engage with students in grades 3–8 and help them develop their mathematical skills. By providing one-on-one live online sessions, you will play an essential role in making math enjoyable and accessible for young learners. Your daily activities will involve delivering clear lessons, assessing student progress, and collaborating with IvyMath managers for effective lesson management. In the first few months, you will familiarize yourself with the platform and curriculum while building rapport with your students to foster a positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- You will conduct 30-minute live tutoring sessions, focusing on making complex math concepts clear and enjoyable for each student.
- Every session will be tailored to meet the individual needs of the students, ensuring they grasp the material effectively.
- After each tutoring session, you will provide detailed updates to IvyMath managers regarding each student’s progress and areas for improvement.
- You will create engaging monthly video updates for parents, outlining their child’s accomplishments and challenges in math.
- Maintaining a consistent schedule is crucial, as you will set your own hours while committing to a minimum of 10 hours each week.
- Additionally, you will collaborate with other tutors to share best practices and resources that enhance the overall tutoring experience.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A prior background in K–12 math tutoring or teaching is essential for this role to ensure effective delivery of lessons.
- Applicants must possess a positive and energetic personality, with the ability to engage virtually with children in a fun manner.
- Strong math skills are necessary, evidenced by a Math SAT score of 700 or higher, or an equivalent assessment.
- Comfort in using technology for virtual teaching is important, as you will need a reliable computer and high-speed internet connection.
- Excellent time-management skills and punctuality are required to maintain a consistent tutoring schedule.
- Applicants should be current undergraduate students or older to ensure the maturity and expertise needed for this role.
