About the Role
The ICU Technician position at a leading multi-specialty hospital is a critical role focused on delivering essential care to patients facing life-threatening conditions. This position is designed for healthcare professionals with a passion for intensive care, where they will collaborate closely with doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel. In the initial months, the successful candidate will undergo orientation and training to familiarize themselves with hospital protocols, equipment, and patient care standards. Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the management of critically ill patients by providing technical support under the supervision of ICU doctors and nurses, ensuring high-quality patient care at all times.
- Monitor and accurately record patients’ vital signs, oxygen saturation, and other clinical parameters, maintaining meticulous documentation for ongoing patient evaluations.
- Operate and maintain specialized ICU equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, suction devices, and infusion pumps, ensuring they are always in optimal working condition.
- Prepare ICU beds and ensure that all required medical equipment is sanitized and functional to maintain a sterile environment for patient safety.
- Provide emergency support during resuscitation efforts or code blue situations, demonstrating quick decision-making and effective teamwork.
- Assist with the setup and management of central lines, arterial lines, and other invasive procedures, following established protocols for patient safety.
- Ensure strict compliance with hospital safety and infection control protocols, contributing to a safe environment for both patients and staff.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Diploma in ICU Technology, Critical Care, or a related paramedical field from a recognized institution is mandatory for this role.
- Strong knowledge of ICU equipment handling, emergency response protocols, and the ability to operate life-support systems is essential.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are preferred to ensure readiness for critical situations.
- Candidates must possess the ability to work under high-stress conditions while maintaining a calm and focused demeanor to effectively support patients.
- Good interpersonal skills are crucial for coordinating effectively with the medical team and providing compassionate care to patients and families.
- Proficiency in computer literacy is required for recording patient information and generating reports in a timely manner.
