Operations Manager – Broilers

About the Role

The Operations Manager – Broilers plays a crucial role in overseeing the entire broiler operations section within BrighterMonday Uganda. This position directly influences the efficiency and productivity of poultry operations, which are essential for meeting the increasing demand for quality chicken products in the market. In the first few months, you will focus on understanding existing processes, training staff, and implementing operational improvements. You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external growers to ensure adherence to quality and safety standards while driving the organization’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• You will strategically direct and manage the broiler division to ensure alignment with the organization’s broader goals and objectives.
• Planning, organizing, and executing various broiler business activities will be a core part of your daily responsibilities, ensuring operational efficiency.
• Meeting key performance indicators (KPIs) as outlined in the strategic plan will be essential to gauge the success of the broiler operations.
• Reviewing and revising operational protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) will ensure compliance with food safety regulations and operational effectiveness.
• You will collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop a comprehensive QA program, promoting best practices within the broiler operations.
• Developing data-driven reporting systems will provide the Agriculture Director with detailed insights into broiler operations, facilitating informed decision-making.
• Identifying training needs among staff will enable effective knowledge transfer and skill development, ensuring a well-equipped team.
• Engaging with contract growers will be crucial, as you will ensure proper training and monitoring to uphold the organization’s standards.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture with a specialization in animal production, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field is required for this role.
• A Master’s degree in Animal Science, Poultry Science, or related disciplines will be considered an added advantage.
• Candidates should possess 7 to 10 years of experience in a senior management role, ideally overseeing multiple sites and large teams.
• Extensive commercial poultry experience is mandatory, showcasing your capability in managing poultry operations effectively.
• Strong leadership skills are essential, along with excellent problem-solving abilities and proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to work effectively with diverse teams and external partners.
