About the Role

The Principal Planner position at McDermott International, Ltd is pivotal in ensuring the seamless execution of complex projects within the oil and gas sector. In your initial months, you will immerse yourself in understanding project workflows while leveraging advanced project management software. Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize project management software like Primavera P6, Deltek Fuse & Risk, and Microsoft Project to conduct thorough schedule analyses that inform project timelines.
  • Contribute to the establishment of project baselines during the initiation phase, ensuring clarity and direction for all project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate in-depth multi-discipline scope reviews to guarantee that all aspects of the project are aligned and adequately addressed.
  • Conduct comprehensive quality and integrity checks on schedules to ensure accuracy and reliability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Regularly update and validate physical progress data from Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) to maintain transparency and accountability.
  • Provide mentoring and support to junior planners, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes professional development within the team.
  • Develop and maintain logically linked level 3 and level 4 activity schedules specifically tailored for marine installation projects related to pipelines and subsea operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, or a related field is essential for this role.
  • Proven experience in project planning and scheduling within the oil and gas industry is highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of project management software, particularly Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project, is required to execute your tasks effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail are necessary to identify potential schedule delays and recommend corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff.
