About the Role

The Education Specialist position at Suyana Foundation plays a critical role in enhancing educational initiatives across Uganda. This position exists to ensure that the foundation’s education programs are not only effective but also tailored to meet the needs of local communities. In the initial months, you will engage with various stakeholders, including implementing partners and local schools, to assess current educational practices and identify areas for enhancement. This role is pivotal in fostering sustainable educational development and empowering communities through quality education.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will collaborate closely with implementing partners throughout the entire project cycle, offering practical advice to enhance project delivery and achieve impactful results.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of partners’ technical capabilities, providing targeted coaching, training, and support to strengthen educational systems, teaching methodologies, and overall program quality.
  • Facilitate engaging workshops and learning sessions for partner staff, focusing on best practices in education to ensure the effective transfer of knowledge and skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of educational programs, gathering data that informs continuous improvement and aligns with national educational priorities.
  • Assist in the development of proposals for new projects, ensuring they reflect the needs of the communities served and the strategic goals of Suyana Foundation.
  • Engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including local governments, community members, and education authorities, to promote collaboration and ensure alignment with local educational policies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field, with advanced degrees being an advantage.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience in educational program development, implementation, or management, preferably within non-profit organizations.
  • Strong understanding of the Ugandan education system, including national policies, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
  • Proven experience in conducting training and capacity-building sessions for educators and community stakeholders.
