About the Role

The Finance and Administration Coordinator position at ZOA Uganda is a key role that ensures effective financial oversight and administrative support to the Acholi field office. This position plays a critical part in maintaining financial integrity and compliance with ZOA’s policies, while also supporting the operational efficiency of the Acholi programme. In the first few months, you will familiarize yourself with the team’s processes, learn the intricacies of financial reporting, and interact closely with various stakeholders to ensure all financial activities align with both local regulations and donor requirements. Your contributions will directly impact the organization’s ability to deliver services effectively in the Acholi region, making your role essential to its mission.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will provide leadership and strategic financial insights that enhance the finance and accounting functions of the ZOA Acholi programme, driving improvements in operational processes for better efficiency.
  • It will be your responsibility to ensure that all internal controls, procedures, and policies are well understood and adhered to by the field staff, guaranteeing compliance at all levels.
  • As the liaison with the Country Office finance support team, you will ensure timely reporting and updates are communicated effectively to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Your role will involve preparing and submitting accurate financial reports to the Programme Manager and the Country Office Finance Manager, ensuring they are received in a timely manner for strategic planning.
  • You will be tasked with checking and confirming expense codes on financial requests, correcting discrepancies in collaboration with budget managers and relevant staff.
  • As the person accountable for financial compliance, you will ensure all financial activities conform to local laws, regulations, and specific donor requirements while preparing necessary financial statements for audits.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required, with a solid understanding of financial management principles.
  • At least three years of experience in financial management or accounting, preferably within a non-profit or development context, is essential.
  • Proficiency in using ERP systems for financial transactions and reporting is a must, along with a familiarity with accounting software.
  • Strong analytical skills are necessary to interpret financial data and provide insights to improve financial practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be crucial for liaising with team members and external stakeholders effectively.
