About the Role

The Head of Construction role at COREcruitment Limited is a pivotal position that involves leading and overseeing restaurant construction projects across Kampala, Uganda. This position is essential for ensuring that new builds and renovations are completed efficiently, safely, and within budget, directly impacting the company’s growth and operational success. In the first few months, you will be expected to familiarize yourself with ongoing projects, establish strong relationships with subcontractors, and align closely with design teams to ensure a seamless workflow. Your expertise in commercial hospitality construction will guide the execution of innovative restaurant spaces that enhance customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• You will oversee all construction and maintenance activities across multiple restaurant sites, ensuring that each project adheres to the pre-established timelines and budgets.
• Your role will include managing both greenfield developments and renovation projects, where you will apply your extensive knowledge of construction processes to deliver high-quality results.
• Directing subcontractors and labor teams will be a crucial part of your responsibilities, requiring effective leadership skills to manage diverse groups of workers on-site.
• It will be your responsibility to ensure compliance with all safety standards and regulations, thus fostering a safe working environment for all staff and contractors.
• You will collaborate closely with management and design teams to translate architectural visions into practical construction plans, ensuring that the final output meets the intended aesthetic and functional requirements.
• Regular reporting on project status, challenges, and milestones will be necessary to keep upper management informed and engaged throughout the construction process.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Applicants should possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial construction, particularly within the hospitality sector, demonstrating a strong portfolio of successful projects.
• Proven management experience on construction sites in Africa is essential, showcasing your ability to navigate the unique challenges of the region.
• Strong technical drawing interpretation skills are required, enabling you to accurately visualize project plans and execute them effectively.
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities will be vital, as you will be responsible for motivating teams and liaising with various stakeholders.
• A degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred, alongside relevant certifications that bolster your qualifications in the industry.
