The Lifting Coordinator at Mota-Engil plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of lifting operations on construction projects. Key Responsibilities
- You will dimension load lifting accessories, such as beads, shackles, and chains, while creating or updating load schematics using AutoCAD to ensure precise lifting operations.
- Accurate load calculations and interpretation of load diagrams will be crucial for guaranteeing safe and effective lifting procedures on site.
- Coordinating and supervising all lifting activities according to the approved lifting plan will be a key aspect of your daily responsibilities.
- It is essential to ensure that only registered crane operators, certified signalers, and qualified riggers are engaged in lifting operations to maintain safety standards.
- You will assess ground conditions to confirm they are suitable and safe for lifting operations, including overseeing daily equipment checks performed by crane operators.
- Leading briefings for crane operators, riggers, and signalmen on safe lifting protocols will help instill a culture of safety and compliance among the team.
- Validation of lifting machine certificates and oversight of maintenance inspection programs will be part of your duties to ensure ongoing operational safety.
- Participating in daily toolbox meetings will enhance communication and coordination among team members before work commences, fostering a collaborative environment.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution is required for this role.
- Applicants should possess a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the oil and gas or civil construction sectors, with demonstrated expertise in lifting operations.
- Completion of a Lifting Supervisors Safety course or its equivalent is essential for this position.
- Certification as an Appointed Person for Lifting Operations (APLO) is required in accordance with relevant regulations.
- Experience in load planning, lifting equipment selection, and conducting risk assessments will be vital for success in this role.
- Proficiency in load calculation software, along with hands-on experience supervising lifting teams, is highly desirable.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills are necessary to effectively manage the lifting team and ensure safe operations.
