About the Role
The Spécialiste HMIS at Palladium plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of health information systems across the Democratic Republic of Congo. This position is essential for ensuring accurate and timely data collection, which directly impacts healthcare delivery and planning. In the initial months, the specialist will focus on understanding existing data flows, working closely with provincial staff, and implementing data quality assurance protocols. The role provides an opportunity to make a tangible difference in public health outcomes while developing your expertise in health data management.
Key Responsibilities
- You will be responsible for overseeing ongoing data quality assurance activities at both national and provincial levels, ensuring that health data is reliable and actionable.
- Your role will involve monitoring the completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of HMIS data, while also supporting the planning of necessary corrective actions to improve data quality.
- Providing technical assistance will be a key part of your job, as you help to strengthen data collection processes and reporting mechanisms within national systems like DHIS2.
- You will mentor provincial staff on the effective use of tools, indicators, data analysis, and HMIS interpretation, enhancing their capacity to manage health data effectively.
- Assisting in the development and dissemination of HMIS guidelines, standard operating procedures (SOPs), job aids, and training materials will be part of your responsibilities.
- Participating in technical working groups and contributing to planning, monitoring, and reporting activities will allow you to collaborate with various stakeholders in the health sector.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Informatics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field is required for this position.
- Applicants should have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in strengthening HMIS, data management, or digital health initiatives in the DRC.
- Practical experience with DHIS2 configuration, data analysis, and troubleshooting is essential for success in this role.
- You should have experience conducting data quality assessments, providing supervisory support, and enhancing capacity-building initiatives.
- Experience working with government health systems and donor-funded health programs will be highly beneficial for this position.
