About the Role
The Terms of Reference (TOR) for the short-term service contract focusing on documentary production related to Child Rights Monitoring and Reporting Systems (CRMRS) in Masaka, Uganda, is pivotal in showcasing the organization’s impact on children’s rights. This role is essential as it aims to highlight the challenges and successes encountered in the implementation of CRMRS, thereby influencing policy and practice. In the first few months, the selected candidate will engage with various stakeholders, gather footage, and create compelling narratives that reflect the experiences of children and youth in the region. Working closely with local teams, the candidate will contribute to the ongoing efforts of Terre des hommes in advocating for children’s rights.
Key Responsibilities
- The consultant will develop a comprehensive production plan outlining the documentary’s key themes, structure, and timeline to ensure alignment with the organization’s objectives.
- Conduct interviews with children, community members, and local authorities to gather authentic stories and perspectives that will enrich the documentary’s content.
- Capture high-quality video footage that effectively portrays the realities faced by children in Masaka, ensuring a focus on both challenges and success stories.
- Edit the collected footage into a cohesive documentary that tells a compelling narrative while adhering to the ethical standards of child representation.
- Collaborate with the Terre des hommes team to ensure the documentary aligns with the organization’s messaging and strategic goals regarding children’s rights.
- Present the final documentary to stakeholders, facilitating discussions on its implications for policy and practice in child rights advocacy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- The applicant should possess a degree in Film Production, Communication, or a related field, demonstrating relevant educational background for the role.
- A minimum of three years of experience in documentary filmmaking or related media production is essential, showcasing the ability to handle sensitive subjects effectively.
- Proficiency in video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro is required, ensuring high production quality.
- Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for conducting interviews and engaging with diverse communities sensitively and respectfully.
- Experience working in non-profit or development contexts, particularly focusing on children’s rights, will be advantageous for understanding the project’s nuances.
