About the Role

The Regional Senior Research Officer for East and Southeast Africa plays a critical role within IMPACT Initiatives’ Research Quality Assurance Unit, based in Kampala, Uganda. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and quality of research programs that deliver impactful outcomes for communities across the region. In the initial months, you will engage with various stakeholders to understand existing research frameworks and quality standards while also participating in the development of new methodologies. You will be instrumental in ensuring that research practices align with ethical standards and contribute to the organization’s mission of evidence-based advocacy and program development.

Key Responsibilities

• You will oversee the implementation of quality assurance protocols for research projects, ensuring adherence to ethical guidelines and compliance with organizational standards.
• The role involves conducting regular audits of ongoing research initiatives to assess their quality and effectiveness, providing actionable feedback for improvement.
• Collaborating with local and international teams, you will facilitate training sessions aimed at enhancing research methodologies among staff and partners.
• Your responsibilities include synthesizing research findings and creating comprehensive reports that inform strategic decision-making and policy advocacy.
• You will actively participate in the design and execution of user-centered research projects, ensuring they meet the highest quality standards.
• Maintaining robust documentation and databases related to research activities will be a key part of your role, enabling efficient retrieval and analysis of data.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in social sciences, research methodology, or a related field is essential for this position.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in research quality assurance, preferably within an NGO or development context, is required.
• Strong understanding of ethical research practices and familiarity with quality assurance frameworks will be crucial for success in this role.
• You should possess excellent analytical skills, with a proven ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective collaboration with diverse teams and stakeholders.
