The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking a highly skilled Child Protection Project Manager to oversee its child protection initiatives in the Rhino Camp and Imvepi refugee settlements. This critical role is designed to ensure the effective management and implementation of child protection strategies that respond to the unique needs of refugees and local communities. In the first few months, you will familiarize yourself with existing projects, engage with community stakeholders, and begin to implement high-quality programming. By collaborating with various partners, you will help foster a protective environment for vulnerable children and families.
Key Responsibilities
You will coordinate, plan, and monitor project activities in accordance with the DRC Project Cycle Management Guide, ensuring adherence to donor compliance and internal standards.
Your role will involve collaborating with other Program Managers and the Country Protection Manager to maintain the quality and coherence of all sectoral interventions across ongoing and proposed projects.
Ensuring the implementation of child protection prevention strategies, such as awareness-raising sessions and positive parenting programs, will be a significant part of your responsibilities.
You will oversee child protection case management, ensuring alignment with DRC Standard Operating Procedures and national guidelines, and adhere to Inter-Agency CP Case Management guidelines.
Implementing Best Interests Procedures for unaccompanied and separated children (UASC) will be a key focus, ensuring their safety and well-being through appropriate care arrangements.
Delivering high-quality project narrative and financial reports in a timely manner will require close collaboration with both the Program Development and Quality Manager and the Country Finance Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in social work, international relations, or a related field is required, with a focus on child protection being highly preferred.
At least three years of proven experience in managing child protection programs in humanitarian settings is essential for this role.
Strong understanding of the West Nile refugee response context, including the unique challenges faced by refugees and host communities, will be necessary.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for fostering collaboration with various stakeholders, including government authorities and community organizations.
You should be proficient in project management tools and possess strong analytical skills to monitor project performance and budgets effectively.
