About the Role
The Education & Spiritual Facilitator position at the International Development Institute Uganda plays a crucial role in enhancing the educational and spiritual growth of communities. This role is vital as it helps in bridging the gap between education and spiritual development, ensuring that both aspects are harmoniously integrated into community projects. In the first few months, you will engage with local schools, churches, and families to implement programs that foster learning and spiritual growth, while actively participating in community mobilization efforts. Your work will not only impact the academic performance of students but will also cultivate a supportive environment for their personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- You will plan and facilitate comprehensive teacher training sessions focusing on effective pedagogy and psychosocial support to enhance teaching quality.
- Your role will involve mobilizing parents and community members to actively participate in school feeding programs and education initiatives, fostering a collaborative environment.
- You will strengthen Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) and assist in the development of sustainable school management practices that ensure long-term success.
- Coordinating the distribution of uniforms, scholastic materials, sports equipment, and other essential school supplies will be a key part of your responsibilities.
- You will support initiatives for school gardens and food storage, promoting agricultural activities that benefit both educational and nutritional needs.
- Your role will include identifying and mentoring talented learners while also supporting initiatives for education sponsorship to enhance opportunities for deserving students.
- You will be responsible for coordinating children’s discipleship activities, mailbox lessons, and programs for youth spiritual development, ensuring a holistic approach to their growth.
- Organizing family-related events such as marriage enrichment, stewardship training, evangelism, and revival programs will be part of your community engagement efforts.
- You will support Christian leadership development initiatives and participate in capacity-building activities for local churches.
- Monitoring and documenting the achievements and challenges of education and spiritual programs will be essential for reporting and future planning.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A background in education, social work, or a related field is essential for understanding the community dynamics.
- Experience in facilitating training programs and community engagement activities will be highly beneficial in this role.
- Strong communication skills are required, as you will interact with various stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and community leaders.
- Familiarity with Christian teachings and the ability to incorporate them into educational programs is necessary.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in educational or community development roles will enhance your effectiveness in this position.
