Senior SDET, Framework & Enablement

About the Role

HubSync is on the lookout for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to take charge of the health and efficiency of our end-to-end test automation framework. This role is pivotal as our customers rely heavily on HubSync during their peak operational weeks, necessitating a robust and trustworthy test pipeline. In the initial months, you will familiarize yourself with our AI-assisted testing architecture and collaborate with engineers to ensure they can easily contribute high-quality tests. Your expertise will not only enhance our existing framework but also cultivate a culture of quality and accountability among the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

• You will own and signal the quality of our CI/CD gates by triaging failures to determine root causes, ensuring that every failure is addressed rather than simply re-running tests.
• Implement a disciplined test quarantine process, where flaky tests are tracked and resolved, promoting a culture of accountability within the testing framework.
• Facilitate quarterly reviews of the pull request (PR) gate to ensure that only the most valuable tests remain, thus maintaining the integrity of the testing process.
• Protect the quality of test signals by ensuring that a green build is genuinely indicative of test reliability and not simply a result of skipped or deleted tests.
• You will be responsible for owning and enhancing the shared test framework, including developing fixtures, factories, and maintaining page object conventions.
• Lead the transition of our convention linter from shell-based checks to more robust, Abstract Syntax Tree (AST)-aware tooling, improving the framework’s adaptability and reliability.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, specifically in test automation or developer-tooling roles within a SaaS environment is essential.
• Proven expertise in building or owning a test framework, demonstrating not just the ability to write tests but to architect a comprehensive testing solution.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, including a track record of being the responsible party when build issues arise.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript is required, as it is central to our test framework.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to enhance test quality and framework usability.
