About the Role

The Consultancy Service for Data Collection for the Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Project Evaluation at Farm Radio International (FRI) is a vital role aimed at assessing the impacts of a multi-country project focused on climate change adaptation. This role is essential for understanding how gender-inclusive nature-based solutions can enhance community resilience in sub-Saharan Africa. In the initial months, the consultant will engage in field data collection, conducting surveys and interviews that will inform key project evaluations. The position not only contributes to the organization’s mission but also offers a unique opportunity to work closely with local communities, understanding their challenges and solutions regarding climate change.

Key Responsibilities

• The consultant will design and implement a quantitative household survey across approximately 50 selected communities, ensuring a representative sample that reflects the ecological and social diversity of the regions.
• Conduct a comprehensive community assessment using both quantitative and qualitative methods to gather insights on community-level initiatives related to nature-based solutions.
• Engage with key stakeholders through in-depth interviews to capture qualitative data that enriches the evaluation findings and supports evidence-based recommendations.
• Analyze collected data to identify trends and patterns that illustrate the effectiveness of the NbS initiatives in enhancing community resilience against climate change.
• Collaborate closely with the Regional MERL Coordinator and other project leads to ensure alignment of data collection methods with the overall project objectives and goals.
• Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings from the surveys and assessments, contributing to the final evaluation documents that will be used for policy and program improvements.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, or a related field is required to ensure a strong foundational understanding of the project’s context.
• At least 3-5 years of experience in data collection, particularly in monitoring and evaluation roles, showcasing proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
• Familiarity with gender-inclusive approaches and climate change adaptation strategies is essential to effectively engage with the project’s objectives and target communities.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting surveys and interviews, including the ability to design tools that yield relevant and actionable data.
• Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis software to interpret complex datasets and generate meaningful insights.
