About the Role
The Credit Manager position at Kyadondo CBS Pewosa SACCO is a pivotal role designed to enhance the institution’s credit function and drive financial inclusion within the community. This position is significant as it directly contributes to the cooperative’s mission of providing accessible financial services while promoting responsible lending practices. In the initial months, the Credit Manager will focus on understanding existing credit processes, leading the credit team, and implementing strategies to improve loan management and recovery. The role demands a proactive leader who will ensure that lending practices align with both institutional goals and the financial health of members.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the SACCO’s credit function, ensuring effective management of the loan portfolio to meet organizational objectives.
- Develop and implement comprehensive credit management strategies that align with the SACCO’s vision of promoting financial stability among its members.
- Conduct thorough credit appraisals, ensuring that all loans are assessed based on sound judgment and in accordance with established policies.
- Regularly monitor portfolio performance, including assessing portfolio-at-risk and delinquency rates, to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Establish and maintain robust systems for managing loan recovery, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue accounts and effective collection strategies.
- Lead efforts to identify emerging credit risks, providing recommendations for corrective actions to safeguard the SACCO’s financial health.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required, with a strong understanding of credit management principles.
- At least 5 years of experience in credit management or a related financial role, preferably within a SACCO or banking environment.
- Demonstrated ability to assess credit risk effectively and make sound lending decisions based on comprehensive analysis.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in managing teams and driving performance in a financial services context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
