About the Role
The Head of Fraud, Forensic & Physical Security at Absa Group plays a critical role in safeguarding the bank’s assets and integrity by leading the strategic implementation of fraud management and security protocols. This position is essential for ensuring that the bank operates within a robust framework designed to prevent and address fraud and security incidents. In the first few months, the successful candidate will focus on understanding the existing frameworks and building relationships with the team and key stakeholders to enhance security measures across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a talented team dedicated to achieving high standards in fraud risk management, forensic investigations, and physical security measures.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fraud and physical security strategy, translating it into actionable plans, priorities, and budgets.
- Utilize data-driven insights from incident patterns and investigation outcomes to inform risk-based decision-making and improve methodologies.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to fraud and security, providing oversight on internal policies and external obligations.
- Engage regularly with senior management and governance forums to present updates on trends, incidents, and key risk themes affecting the bank.
- Foster collaborative relationships with law enforcement and regulatory bodies to enhance the bank’s response to fraud and security risks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in fraud management, forensic investigations, or physical security within the banking or financial services sector.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of developing high-performing teams focused on fraud prevention and security.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess risk and develop effective strategies for fraud and security management.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards related to fraud and physical security is essential.
