About the Role

The Junior Site Structural Engineer position at VAAL Real Estate Uganda is a vital entry-level role that contributes to the success of high-profile construction projects in Kampala. This position exists to support the engineering team in ensuring that all structural designs are executed accurately and efficiently, fostering a culture of quality and safety on-site. During the first few months, you will work closely with senior engineers, gaining hands-on experience in structural design and site inspections. Key Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in the development and validation of structural designs, ensuring they meet client specifications and safety standards.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress, identifying any issues that may affect project timelines or quality.
• Perform routine structural and civil engineering calculations to support design validation and on-site decision-making.
• Review and analyze construction drawings, providing feedback to ensure compliance with design specifications.
• Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools to create and modify structural drawings, enhancing project documentation.
• Prepare technical reports that document project progress, structural analysis, and compliance with safety regulations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or a related discipline, providing a strong theoretical foundation in engineering principles.
• Demonstrated proficiency in structural analysis and engineering calculations, which is crucial for effective design validation.
• Experience or training in using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for creating and modifying structural schematics.
• Familiarity with relevant building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards to ensure project compliance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, enabling effective collaboration with project managers, architects, and contractors.
• Attention to detail and strong problem-solving abilities, essential for addressing challenges that arise on-site.
• A willingness to learn from experienced engineers, enhancing your skills and knowledge in structural engineering.
• Previous internship or entry-level experience in construction or real estate development will be considered an advantage.
