Project Assistant (Bukedea)

About the Role

The Project Assistant role at Raising The Village is pivotal in driving community development initiatives aimed at eradicating extreme poverty in some of Uganda’s most underprivileged areas. This position is designed for individuals passionate about making a tangible difference through community engagement and sustainable practices. In the first few months, you will engage with local communities, facilitate essential training sessions, and contribute to the implementation of various projects that enhance household incomes and promote self-sufficiency. You will work closely with a dynamic team dedicated to fostering economic independence and improving living conditions for families in remote villages.

Key Responsibilities

• You will conduct project design review meetings with partner villages, providing constructive feedback to refine project designs and budgets before implementation.
• As a facilitator, you will coordinate and lead training activities that cover financial literacy, health, sanitation, and agricultural practices, ensuring community members are well-equipped to improve their livelihoods.
• Your role will include implementing Raising The Village’s project methodologies aimed at increasing household income and alleviating poverty, in line with established project designs.
• You will compile and submit a list of required goods and services for project execution to the procurement and logistics officer, ensuring all resources are available for smooth implementation.
• Prior to distribution, you will be responsible for verifying the quality and quantity of goods provided to community members, maintaining high standards for project materials.
• Your responsibilities will extend to conducting follow-up visits to community groups and households to monitor project compliance and provide ongoing support and guidance.
• In your role, you will identify potential risks associated with projects and suggest mitigation strategies to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of initiatives.
• You will regularly meet with community leaders and members to discuss project performance, participation rates, and community perceptions, fostering transparency and collaboration.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A University Degree in Community Development, Project Management, or related fields is essential for this role.
• Previous experience in community engagement or project implementation will be highly advantageous.
• Strong communication skills are crucial, enabling effective interaction with diverse community members and stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with reporting tools will enhance your ability to manage project documentation and communications.
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team, adapting to varying community needs and project requirements.
