The Senior Accountant position at DP World is a pivotal role that contributes significantly to the financial health of the organization within the freight forwarding sector. This role is essential for ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, and insightful financial analysis which aids in strategic decision-making. In your initial months, you will familiarize yourself with the financial systems and processes, collaborate closely with operational teams, and gain an in-depth understanding of the budgeting and forecasting processes within a global logistics framework.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and present comprehensive financial records, including general ledger accounts and monthly management accounts, to facilitate informed business decisions.
Conduct detailed financial analyses comparing actual performance against forecasts and budgets, identifying variances, and providing actionable insights.
Process both recurring and non-recurring journal entries while ensuring proper general ledger processing to maintain financial accuracy.
Execute month-end close processes efficiently and support global shared services in financial reporting activities.
Review gross profit margins and generate exception reports, proactively following up on queries with operational teams to ensure clarity and resolution.
Collaborate with operational teams to prepare accurate budgets and forecasts, aligning financial expectations with business objectives.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and diligently follow up to close any identified variances, ensuring financial integrity.
Manage intercompany transactions by reviewing and resolving validations and queries in a timely manner to maintain accurate financial records.
Requirements & Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field is required to ensure a solid foundation in financial principles.
At least 2-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, particularly within the clearing and forwarding environment, is essential for this role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is necessary, as these tools will be used frequently for analysis and presentations.
Familiarity with Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) is required, given its importance in financial reporting.
Knowledge of Oracle and/or SAP systems will be beneficial, as these are commonly used in managing financial operations.
