About the Role

The Tailor position at the Refugee Mental Health Network is an essential role within a nonprofit dedicated to empowering refugees, particularly women and young individuals. This hybrid, on-site position is based in Ntinda, Kampala, and focuses on the production of laptop bags through the Kindred social enterprise. In the initial months, you will immerse yourself in the tailoring process, learning to measure, cut, and sew materials while adhering to quality standards. This role not only contributes to the livelihood of refugee women but also plays a vital part in healing and supporting vulnerable communities through skill development and empowerment.

Key Responsibilities

• You will measure, cut, and sew various materials to create high-quality laptop bags, ensuring that each product meets the established quality standards.
• The role requires operating tailoring equipment safely, demonstrating a commitment to maintaining a safe workspace at all times.
• You will assist in the day-to-day production activities, collaborating closely with other team members to meet production goals efficiently.
• Maintaining organized workstations is crucial, as you will be responsible for keeping your tools and materials in order to enhance productivity.
• You will need to follow detailed instructions from supervisors, ensuring that all assigned tasks are completed on time and to specification.
