About the Role
The Commercial Manager role at Pula is pivotal in driving the adoption of agriculture insurance among smallholder farmers in Uganda. This position is not merely a sales job; it is an opportunity to make a significant impact by transforming the agricultural landscape through innovative insurance solutions. In the first few months, you will immerse yourself in understanding the local market and building relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials and development agencies. Your mission will be to advocate for the importance of climate insurance, ensuring that farmers have the necessary support to thrive despite environmental challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and nurture deep relationships with clients and stakeholders to accurately assess their needs and preferences regarding agriculture insurance.
- Conduct market research to gather intelligence on competitors and identify opportunities that can enhance Pula’s service offerings.
- Develop and deliver compelling presentations and proposals that articulate Pula’s unique value propositions to potential clients.
- Act as the primary spokesperson for Pula in the region, effectively communicating our mission and the importance of agriculture insurance.
- Define commercial objectives and key results for your region, taking ownership of achieving these goals through strategic planning and execution.
- Continuously seek feedback and insights from farmers and stakeholders to refine Pula’s services and ensure they meet market demands.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, or a related field is essential for this role.
- At least 5 years of experience in business development or sales, preferably within the agricultural or insurance sectors.
- Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and community leaders.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Strong analytical skills to assess market trends and develop strategic initiatives that align with company goals.
