The Volunteer Video Editor position at Empower and Care Organization Uganda (EACO) offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about storytelling and social impact. As part of a community-focused nonprofit, you will help shape the digital narrative surrounding vital projects aimed at improving the lives of vulnerable children and families in Uganda. In your first few months, you will collaboratively turn raw footage into compelling short videos that resonate with audiences on platforms like Instagram and TikTok. This role is essential in amplifying EACO’s mission and showcasing the real stories behind their initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
You will edit approximately 2–3 short videos weekly, helping to create engaging social media content that highlights EACO’s projects.
Your tasks will include adding subtitles, music, transitions, and simple graphics to enhance the visual storytelling of each video.
Creating strong hooks that capture viewer attention within the first few seconds will be crucial for the effectiveness of the videos.
As a video editor, you will transform raw footage into emotional and authentic narratives that reflect the challenges and successes of the communities served by EACO.
Following EACO’s visual identity and communication style is essential to maintain brand consistency, aligning with standards similar to those of the United Nations.
You will collaborate closely with the communications team to brainstorm and develop new content ideas that resonate with your audience.
Requirements & Qualifications
No extensive experience is required; however, a creative mindset and a willingness to learn are crucial for this role.
You should be comfortable using video editing software such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
An understanding of short-form social media content and how it engages audiences will be beneficial.
Effective communication skills in English are necessary to collaborate with team members and meet project requirements.
Access to your own computer and editing software is essential to fulfill your editing responsibilities.
