About the Role

The Sales Representative position at House of Seeds in Mbale is crucial for connecting local farmers with high-quality seeds and agronomic solutions. This role is essential in enhancing agricultural productivity and improving the livelihoods of farming communities in the Eastern region of Uganda. In the initial months, you will immerse yourself in the local agricultural landscape, build relationships with farmers, and gain insights into their needs and challenges. Your contributions will directly impact food security and empower farmers through better crop yields, aligning with House of Seeds’ mission of fostering prosperity through superior agricultural products.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will actively drive the sales of seed products by identifying potential farming customers in Mbale and neighboring districts, ensuring that opportunities are captured effectively.
  • Your role will involve delivering exceptional customer service by promptly responding to inquiries and providing accurate information regarding product offerings and planting recommendations.
  • Managing and updating customer leads and records in the Senri CRM system will be crucial for maintaining accurate tracking of interactions and follow-ups.
  • Regular submission of detailed weekly sales activity reports, which include calls made, visits conducted, and sales closed, will help in monitoring your performance and strategizing for growth.
  • Staying informed about company products, pricing structures, and competitor offerings will enable you to position solutions effectively and meet customer needs.
  • You will support existing customers through regular check-ins and assist in managing demonstration sites to showcase the performance of various products.
  • Strict adherence to company policies, including expense management and ethical sales practices, will be expected in all your field activities.
  • Collaboration with the technical team to relay farmer feedback and market insights will play a key role in the continuous improvement of product offerings and training development.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A minimum of a diploma in Agriculture, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field from a recognized institution is essential for this role.
  • You should have at least two years of proven experience in sales, preferably within agricultural inputs, FMCG, or rural market environments.
  • The ability to consistently achieve sales targets and cultivate strong relationships with farmers and agro-dealers is necessary for success in this position.
  • A proficiency in using mobile technology and basic CRM systems for recording sales activities and customer data is required.
  • You must be willing to travel extensively within the Mbale region and work flexible hours to meet the diverse needs of your customers.
  • Fluency in English and Lugisu or other local languages spoken in Eastern Uganda will facilitate effective communication with your clients.
