About the Role
As a Procurement Manager at Uganda Batteries Limited (UBL), you will play a critical role in ensuring that the company operates smoothly by managing the procurement of materials, products, and services essential for production and growth. This role is vital for maintaining efficiency and cost-effectiveness in our operations. In your first few months, you will familiarize yourself with our existing supplier relationships, evaluate procurement processes, and establish strategies that enhance productivity. Collaborating closely with various departments, you will drive initiatives that align procurement activities with the overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- You will lead the end-to-end procurement processes, ensuring that all aspects of sourcing, purchasing, and supply chain management are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Your role will involve managing supplier sourcing, conducting evaluations, and negotiating contracts to secure the best possible terms for UBL.
- Cost optimization will be a key focus; you will implement strategies that enhance value while maintaining high-quality standards in procurement.
- Overseeing inventory requirements and coordinating logistics for imports will be crucial to ensure that production schedules are met without delays.
- You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulations, which will involve timely reporting and documentation of procurement activities.
- Collaboration with the Production, Finance, and Operations teams will be essential to support business continuity and align procurement strategies with operational needs.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is essential for this role.
- You should possess a CIPS Professional Diploma in Procurement & Supply or an equivalent qualification to demonstrate your expertise in the field.
- At least 6 years of relevant experience in procurement, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity, is required to ensure you can lead the team effectively.
- Strong negotiation skills, along with supplier management and cost-management capabilities, are critical for achieving procurement goals.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and stakeholder management skills are necessary to navigate the complexities of the procurement landscape.
