About the Role

The Construction Equipment Repairs position at XUGONG (U) LIMITED in Kampala is integral to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of heavy machinery used in construction projects. This role exists to maintain and repair a variety of heavy equipment, which is vital for the success of construction operations. In the first few months, you’ll engage in hands-on diagnostic work, lead repair teams, and familiarize yourself with the company’s maintenance management system. You will play a key role in minimizing equipment downtime, thereby contributing to project timelines and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• You will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment, such as loaders, graders, and excavators, ensuring they operate at peak performance.
• Your expertise in diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues will be utilized daily, allowing you to implement effective solutions independently.
• Leading teams in the field, you will oversee the assembly and disassembly of equipment, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
• You will interpret electrical schematics to aid in troubleshooting, ensuring that repairs are not only effective but also comply with safety regulations.
• Utilizing the company’s maintenance management system, you will maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance, which is crucial for tracking equipment performance.
• Regularly collaborating with other departments, you will provide insights on equipment usage and maintenance needs to improve overall operational efficiency.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A degree in Engineering Machinery or a related field is essential for this role to ensure a strong foundation in technical knowledge.
• You should possess over three years of experience specifically in construction equipment repairs, demonstrating your capability in this specialized area.
• Experience working with major equipment brands, particularly those in the “Yellow Table Top 25” category, such as Caterpillar or Komatsu, is highly desirable.
• Fluency in English is required, as it serves as the working language for communication and documentation.
• Strong team leadership and communication skills are essential, enabling you to effectively guide and motivate repair teams.
