About the Role
The People & Culture Locum Assistant at TPO Uganda plays a vital role in enhancing the organizational culture and employee experience within the NGO sector. This position is essential for ensuring that effective employee lifecycle processes are in place, which is crucial for maintaining a motivated workforce dedicated to mental health and psychosocial wellbeing. During the initial months, you will be actively involved in recruitment, onboarding, and supporting various HR functions, gaining firsthand experience in managing employee relations within a dynamic nonprofit environment.
Key Responsibilities
- You will assist in the recruitment and selection processes by preparing job advertisements, organizing interview schedules, and supporting the onboarding of new employees to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
- Your role will include preparing and processing employment contracts, extensions, and renewals, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with TPO Uganda’s policies.
- You will maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records and personnel files, which are crucial for effective HR management and compliance with labor standards.
- Supporting onboarding, induction, and separation processes will be part of your responsibilities, helping new hires acclimate and ensuring departing employees have a structured exit.
- You will manage P&C trackers and databases to ensure timely follow-up on key employee lifecycle actions, contributing to the overall efficiency of the HR department.
- Assisting in performance management processes, including conducting probation reviews and performance appraisals, will enable you to develop insights into employee development and organizational effectiveness.
- You will contribute to staff welfare and engagement initiatives, which are vital for fostering a positive workplace culture and enhancing employee satisfaction.
- Providing administrative support for routine P&C processes and preparing reports and documentation will be essential to ensure transparency and efficiency within the department.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred to ensure a foundational understanding of HR principles.
- Previous experience in an HR support role or similar environment is beneficial, ideally within the NGO sector, to help you navigate specific challenges in this field.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential, as you will be managing sensitive employee information and ensuring compliance with policies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be necessary for effectively interacting with staff at all levels and fostering a collaborative workplace atmosphere.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite will be expected to facilitate efficient documentation and reporting processes.
