About the Role

The Education Officer role at UNICEF is pivotal in enhancing educational access and quality for vulnerable adolescents in Uganda. This position is instrumental in driving initiatives that empower young people, especially girls, to thrive academically and socially. In your initial months, you will engage with community stakeholders, assess educational needs, and develop strategies to address barriers to education. By fostering partnerships across various sectors, you will contribute to creating sustainable pathways that lead from learning to earning, ultimately transforming lives and communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage in program development by assessing educational needs and formulating actionable strategies to enhance access to quality education.
  • Manage and monitor education programs, ensuring that all initiatives align with UNICEF’s objectives and achieve measurable results.
  • Provide technical and operational support to ensure effective implementation of educational programs in collaboration with local governments and partners.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders, including educational institutions and community organizations, to promote program sustainability.
  • Lead innovation and knowledge management efforts by introducing best practices and capacity-building initiatives that enhance educational outcomes.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and assessments to monitor program impact and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Economics, Sociology, or a related field is required to ensure a solid foundation for this role.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience in education program planning, management, or adolescent development is essential for effective execution.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for building partnerships and effectively conveying educational concepts.
  • Proficiency in English is required, with knowledge of additional languages being a valuable asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in grant management and resource mobilization will enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.
