Business Development and Green Finance Readiness Support Consultant

About the Role

The Business Development and Green Finance Readiness Support Consultant at the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) plays a pivotal role in fostering sustainable economic growth in Uganda. This position is crucial as it addresses significant barriers that Ugandan enterprises face in accessing finance for green projects. In your first few months, you will engage with various stakeholders, including businesses and financial institutions, to enhance their investment readiness. Your efforts will contribute to the development of resource-efficient practices and cleaner production initiatives, ultimately promoting Uganda’s commitment to sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify investment-ready projects based on the recommendations from the Uganda Cleaner Production Center (UCPC).
• Facilitate workshops and training sessions focused on enhancing the technical and managerial capacities of selected companies.
• Develop tailored business plans that align with the green finance criteria for various enterprises.
• Assist companies in packaging their projects to make them appealing to potential financiers and investors.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to promote a culture of resource efficiency and sustainable practices within the business community.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation of green finance initiatives to ensure they meet the expected outcomes and objectives.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Environmental Science, or a related field is essential.
• At least five years of experience in business development, specifically in the context of sustainable or green projects.
• Proven track record in working with financial institutions or investment facilitation in Uganda or similar markets.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop and assess business plans and financial proposals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and promote collaborative initiatives.
