About the Role
The General Maintenance Worker position at Amentum is essential for supporting critical infrastructure operations, specifically within a unique program for the US Navy on Diego Garcia. This role involves ensuring that electrical systems and other facilities are maintained efficiently to prevent disruptions in service. In the initial months, you will engage in hands-on maintenance tasks, familiarize yourself with inventory management for spare parts, and collaborate with a team dedicated to ensuring operational reliability. Your contributions will be vital for maintaining infrastructure that supports key military programs.
Key Responsibilities
- You will coordinate all maintenance and repair activities, ensuring minimal disruptions to electrical power systems during system outages.
- Inspect and troubleshoot various electrical systems and infrastructure to perform necessary maintenance or repair work effectively, ensuring they remain operational.
- Develop and maintain a detailed inventory list of critical spare parts required for the continuous service of the electrical system, as outlined in operational guidelines.
- Manage the procurement and stock levels of critical spare parts, aligning inventory with operational demands to prevent any potential system downtime.
- Conduct scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance to enhance the long-term reliability and operational success of electrical infrastructure and related systems.
- Communicate and schedule planned maintenance activities with stakeholders to manage expectations and avoid unnecessary service disruptions.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance logs, repair documentation, and inventory systems to ensure data integrity and readiness for audits.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in maintenance, repair, and inspection of mechanical and electrical systems in an industrial or commercial environment is required.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is essential, with additional technical certifications in electrical or mechanical systems being highly desirable.
- A basic understanding of electrical distribution systems and facility maintenance is crucial for effective performance in this role.
- Experience with inventory management practices, particularly in identifying and procuring essential spare parts for maintenance operations, is expected.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary to coordinate maintenance tasks effectively, ensuring minimal service downtime or outages.
