About the Role

The Cashier position at Amentum is a vital role that supports a unique US Navy program on Diego Garcia, focusing on handling financial transactions accurately and efficiently. This position is essential for maintaining financial integrity and compliance with government regulations, ensuring that patrons receive a seamless experience when making payments. In the first few months, you will familiarize yourself with the established procedures, gain proficiency in managing transactions, and develop strong customer service skills while working in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage cash, checks, and other payment forms from patrons, verifying their eligibility and processing transactions according to established protocols.
• Collect payments in alignment with the meal rates detailed in the General Mess Quarterly Notice 7330, ensuring accuracy in every transaction.
• Secure necessary patron signatures and complete the DoD Form 1544 Cash Meal Payment Book for each meal period to maintain accurate records.
• Document all cash collected during each meal period in the NAVSUP Form 470 Cash Receipt Book, ensuring financial transparency and accountability.
• Prepare cash deposits and secure funds by properly bagging them and depositing them along with the Daily Activity Report in the designated depository.
• Complete the DoD Form 1131 Cash Collection Voucher for each deposit, transferring it accurately to a designated Government account.
• Perform routine checks on daily transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with established financial procedures.
• Deliver outstanding customer service by effectively communicating with patrons, addressing inquiries, and resolving any concerns professionally.
• Conduct other job-related duties as assigned, maintaining flexibility and adaptability in your role.

Requirements & Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position.
• At least 1-2 years of experience in a cashier, accounting, or financial services role is essential to ensure familiarity with financial processes.
• Proficiency in handling cash transactions and maintaining accurate documentation to support financial accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail are necessary to adhere to standardized payment processes and maintain financial records.
• Excellent customer service skills are required, along with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of patrons.
• Candidates must be able to complete and maintain all required training and certifications, including Customer Service, CPR, and First Aid, with annual recertification as needed.
• A valid passport and the ability to travel internationally are necessary for this role, given its unique location and responsibilities.
