About the Role
The Education and Spiritual Facilitator position at the International Development Institute (IDI) Uganda is crucial in fostering educational and spiritual growth within project communities. This role is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of schools, churches, and families through targeted training and community engagement. In the first few months, you will likely immerse yourself in understanding local community dynamics, establishing relationships with stakeholders, and mobilizing resources to support educational initiatives. The position emphasizes the integration of Christian values into educational practices, ensuring that activities are aligned with IDI Uganda’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- You will plan and facilitate comprehensive training sessions for teachers on effective pedagogy and psychosocial support, ensuring they are equipped to address the diverse needs of their students.
- Your role involves mobilizing parents and community members to actively participate in school feeding programs and other educational initiatives, fostering a supportive environment for students.
- Strengthening Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) is essential; you will support school management and sustainability programs to enhance community involvement in education.
- Coordinating the distribution of uniforms, scholastic materials, sports equipment, and school supplies will be a core duty to ensure students have the resources they need to succeed.
- You will support initiatives such as school gardens and food storage programs, promoting agricultural education and sustainability among students.
- Identifying and mentoring talented learners will be key; you will also facilitate education sponsorship initiatives to support students’ academic journeys.
- Your responsibilities will extend to coordinating children’s discipleship programs, mailbox lessons, and youth spiritual development activities.
- Training churches, Sunday School teachers, and community leaders on Biblical principles will help strengthen the spiritual foundation within the communities.
- You will organize family-oriented programs focusing on marriage, stewardship, evangelism, and revival, contributing to overall community well-being.
- Supporting Christian leadership development and church capacity-building activities will enhance spiritual growth and leadership within the community.
- Monitoring, documenting, and reporting on educational and spiritual program achievements, challenges, and impact will be essential for continuous improvement.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree in Education, Development Studies, Theology, or a related field is typically required for this role, ensuring a solid academic foundation.
- Experience in teacher training, community engagement, or educational program implementation is preferred, ideally with at least 2-3 years in a similar role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for effectively engaging with diverse community members, stakeholders, and students.
- Knowledge of Christian teachings and values is crucial, as this role integrates spiritual development into educational practices.
- Proficiency in report writing and documentation is necessary to effectively monitor and communicate program outcomes and challenges.
