About the Role

The Finance & Administration Coordinator at ZOA plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization’s initiatives in Uganda. This position is pivotal in supporting communities affected by conflict and disaster, allowing them to rebuild their lives. In your first months, you will familiarize yourself with ZOA’s financial systems, engage with various stakeholders, and contribute to budget preparation and reporting. Your work will directly impact the effectiveness of humanitarian efforts and community recovery projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will oversee the preparation of financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with both internal policies and donor requirements.
  • As a coordinator, you will manage the budgeting process, collaborating with project managers to ensure financial resources are allocated effectively to various initiatives.
  • It will be your responsibility to maintain and update financial records, ensuring that all transactions are documented and filed correctly for transparency and accountability.
  • You will support the administration of human resources processes, including payroll, recruitment, and staff orientation, contributing to a positive work environment.
  • Regularly, you will conduct audits of financial processes to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices for efficiency.
  • Your role will involve liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies, preparing necessary documentation and responses to facilitate smooth audit processes.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is essential for this role.
  • At least three years of experience in finance or administration, preferably within an NGO or similar environment, is required.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, is critical for managing financial tasks efficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are necessary to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are vital to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
