About the Role

The Assistant Manager Loss Prevention at Marriott plays a crucial role in safeguarding the property, assets, employees, and guests. This position is vital for maintaining a secure environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and promoting overall guest satisfaction. In the initial months, you will be immersed in understanding the property’s security protocols, participating in training staff on emergency procedures, and conducting assessments to identify potential risks. As part of a dedicated team, you will help create a culture of safety and vigilance within the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will assist the Director of Engineering in implementing fire prevention programs and ensuring the property is prepared for emergencies, which includes staff training and drills.
  • Your role involves performing hazard and risk assessments on the property, including conducting quarterly OSHA safety audits and tracking incidents to enhance safety measures.
  • It is your responsibility to develop clear shutdown procedures that secure all areas of the property at designated times, ensuring that no vulnerabilities exist.
  • Compliance is key; you will ensure that all security protocols meet federal, state, and local laws, as well as Marriott’s internal standards.
  • Monitoring and maintaining the functionality of CCTV equipment and alarm systems will be part of your duties, as you develop monthly checklists to track their operational status.
  • You will engage in regular patrols of the property, inspecting both interior and exterior areas, to ensure safety and respond promptly to any unusual activities.
  • Additionally, you will handle guest complaints and conflicts, striving to provide exceptional customer service while resolving issues effectively and amicably.
  • As part of your oversight duties, you will guide the Accident Prevention Committee and manage the first aid program, ensuring a quick response to emergencies.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or GED is required, along with three years of experience in security or loss prevention roles; alternatively, a two-year degree in Criminal Justice with one year of experience is acceptable.
  • Proven ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments is essential for this position.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary, as you will interact with guests and staff to maintain high safety standards.
  • Experience in emergency response planning or training staff on safety protocols is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with legal safety regulations and loss prevention technologies, such as CCTV systems, is crucial for effective performance in this role.
