About the Role

The Embassy of France in Kampala is seeking a dedicated Mission Officer to champion the promotion of French higher education within Uganda. This role is pivotal in fostering educational ties between Uganda and France, facilitating opportunities for students to pursue studies abroad. In the initial months, the successful candidate will immerse themselves in understanding the local education landscape, engage with potential students, and collaborate with educational institutions to enhance the visibility of French academic offerings. The Mission Officer will play a key role in advising and supporting students throughout their educational journey, ensuring they are well-prepared for their studies in France.

Key Responsibilities

• The Mission Officer will oversee the operations of the two Campus France locations, ensuring that both the Alliance Française de Kampala and the University of Makerere are effectively promoting French higher education.
• They will be responsible for organizing and executing a variety of events designed to elevate awareness about studying in France, engaging with students and educational institutions across Uganda.
• Providing one-on-one guidance to students, the officer will assist with application processes, including creating impactful CVs and cover letters, as well as preparing DAP files for prospective students.
• The officer will lead information sessions at Ugandan high schools and universities, fostering direct dialogue about the benefits of pursuing education in France.
• Monitoring the progress of scholarship recipients will be a key duty, ensuring they receive the necessary support throughout their educational experience.
• They will maintain an up-to-date database of alumni who have studied in France, facilitating a strong network for current and future students.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Applicants should possess an excellent command of both English and French, ideally at a C1 proficiency level, to effectively communicate with students and educational partners.
• A solid understanding of the French higher education system is essential, with preference given to those who have studied in France or a similar educational context.
• Candidates should be well-versed in the Ugandan education system, allowing for informed guidance to students considering their academic options.
• Experience in communication, development cooperation, or international relations will be beneficial, as the role involves significant engagement with various stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are crucial for the successful execution of responsibilities.
