About the Role

The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Uganda Country Program is seeking qualified audit firms to provide critical internal audit services for the fiscal year 2026. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of governance, risk management, internal controls, compliance, and operational effectiveness across the organization. In the first few months, the selected firm will immerse itself in LWF’s operations, assessing financial management practices and enhancing risk management strategies. This position not only supports transparency but also strengthens the organization’s mission of humanitarian aid and development across Uganda.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of internal controls and risk management strategies to enhance operational effectiveness at LWF Uganda.
  • Plan and execute internal audits in alignment with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, ensuring high-quality assessments.
  • Identify and analyze the organization’s risk areas, contributing to the formulation of a robust annual risk-based internal audit plan.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures by reviewing operational processes and recommending improvements.
  • Engage with various departments, including financial management, procurement, and human resources, to ensure a holistic approach to governance and risk management.
  • Prepare and present audit findings and recommendations to management, facilitating informed decision-making and accountability.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Registered audit firms must hold relevant licenses issued by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU).
  • Proven experience in conducting risk-based internal audits within non-profit or humanitarian organizations is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex financial and operational processes effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey findings clearly to various stakeholders.
  • A commitment to upholding ethical standards and integrity in all audit practices.
