About the Role
The National Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Technical Coordinator position at Palladium plays a crucial role in enhancing health security in Uganda as part of the Tackling Deadly Diseases in Africa Programme Phase 2 (TDDAP2). This position is vital for the effective implementation of AMR activities, ensuring that Uganda can effectively combat infectious diseases through improved governance and surveillance systems. In the initial months, the coordinator will work closely with the country team, consortium partners, and national government officials to familiarize themselves with existing programs, assess needs, and strategize impactful interventions. This role directly contributes to national health priorities and supports sustainable health outcomes, making it a pivotal position for those passionate about public health.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with national government agencies and consortium partners to facilitate the implementation of AMR initiatives in line with TDDAP2 objectives.
- Develop and oversee strategies to strengthen AMR governance and enhance ownership at the national level, ensuring alignment with international best practices.
- Improve surveillance and reporting systems for antimicrobial resistance to ensure timely and accurate data collection and analysis.
- Support local capacity building by providing technical assistance and training to stakeholders involved in AMR activities.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of AMR programs, providing reports and feedback to ensure continuous improvement and accountability.
- Collaborate with other implementing partners and stakeholders to ensure a cohesive approach to managing AMR across sectors, emphasizing a One Health strategy.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A degree in Public Health, Microbiology, or a related field is required, with a preference for advanced degrees.
- At least 5 years of experience in public health, specifically in antimicrobial resistance, infectious disease control, or related areas.
- Proven experience in project management, preferably in a development context, with a strong understanding of health systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials and community organizations.
- Strong analytical skills to assess data and support evidence-based decision-making in health interventions.
