About the Role
The National Consultant for Oversight, Coordination, Monitoring and Quality Assurance of the Community Health Workforce Programme (CHWP) plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation of community health initiatives across Uganda. This position is critical as it directly contributes to UNICEF’s mission of enhancing child health and well-being through effective community health systems. In the initial months, the consultant will familiarize themselves with existing health structures, engage with stakeholders, and develop strategic plans for program execution. This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference in public health while collaborating with national and local government bodies.
Key Responsibilities
- The consultant will oversee the implementation of the Community Health Workforce Programme, ensuring adherence to established timelines and quality standards.
- Regularly assess and report on program outputs to ensure they align with the approved workplans and budgets.
- Coordinate effectively with the Ministry of Health and district local governments to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
- Provide technical guidance and support to staff involved in the recruitment, training, and deployment of Community Health Workers.
- Monitor the progress of digital health initiatives, ensuring that tools such as eCHIS are effectively utilized to enhance service delivery.
- Engage with community stakeholders to foster an environment of support and cooperation for the CHWP initiatives and goals.
Requirements & Qualifications
- A Master’s degree in Public Health, Community Health, Health Systems Management, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a closely related field is essential for this role.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in program management, particularly in health-related projects and initiatives.
- Strong understanding of community health systems and the role of Community Health Workers in improving health outcomes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Proficiency in monitoring and evaluation practices, as well as familiarity with digital health solutions and tools.
